Kate Cooke's Welcome Reception

On September 23, Kate Cooke joined Localworks as our new Executive Director. Kate came to us from her role as Capital Projects, Outreach and Engagement Program Manager for Alameda Connects/Alameda Corridor Business Improvement District. Many of you will recognize her from her work in the region, as she has over 15 years of experience in the development and implementation of programs that increase economic vitality and build a sense of community. Her formal education includes both a Masters of Public Administration and a Masters of Urban Planning. In addition, she's lived in Jefferson County for over 20 years, served on Edgewater City Council, acted as the Chair of Edgewater's Urban Renewal Authority and spent 12 years on the County's Community Development Advisory Board.

Join us in welcoming Kate at our public reception on October 23 at Luke's, A Steak Place from 4 to 6pm. Please RSVP to reception@wearelocalworks.org by October 18.

Trunk or Treat

Join us for a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience for kids and their families. Participating businesses and community members decorate their cars and trucks with creative disguises and hand out candy to kids. The event also features a photo station, carnival games, a "Thriller" dance station and a trunk decorating competition. Don’t miss out on this spooky good time.

Would you like to contribute to the success of this event? Please consider volunteering, donating candy or decorating your vehicle. For more information on how to get involved, follow the link below or call Localworks at (720) 259-1030.

Please note that the location of this event has been changed. This year, it will take place at Lutheran Medical Center at 3555 N Lutheran Parkway. A big thank you to Lutheran Medical Center for hosting us and supporting this event as the Presenting Sponsor.

Candidate Questionnaire

As a non-profit organization advancing Wheat Ridge as a vibrant and sustainable community, many items in public policy directly impact Localworks’ mission. As a service to our members and also available to the public on our website, we ask candidates about their qualifications and positions on public policy. The candidates were emailed the questions on September 13 with a deadline of September 24. Please note, not all candidates responded. We’ve compiled the information by office up for election and published answers exactly as we received them. This questionnaire gives candidates some more room to express themselves and their ideas. Localworks does not make any endorsements.

Community Builder Award

At our Annual Meeting in November, Localworks will honor one individual with the 2019 Community Builder Award. This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated leadership qualities and a commitment to improving the Wheat Ridge community. We are now accepting nominations. If you'd like to nominate someone, please send their name and a few sentences about why you think they deserve this award to Ashley Holland at aholland@wearelocalworks.org by 5pm on November 7.
