Join Our Weekly Community Coffee Break

Take a short break and virtually meet up with your friends and neighbors for a quick cup of coffee. Every Wednesday at 10am, Localworks will host a 15 minute Community Coffee Break. We’ll chat about a specific topic, share resources and get some much needed social interaction. These community chats will be held weekly and are virtual for now. Please join us as often as you’d like! Find a list of upcoming topics and register below.

Sustainable Neighborhoods Program

Are you looking for innovative and fun ways to connect with your neighbors? Do you have ideas for sustainability projects you’d like to see happen in your neighborhood? Check out the City of Wheat Ridge’s Sustainable Neighborhoods Program and join the two Wheat Ridge neighborhoods – Sustainable Applewood Villages and Sustainable Paramount Heights – in making a positive impact on your neighborhood and our city.

The Sustainable Neighborhoods Program gives residents the opportunity to become active partners in building a vibrant and sustainable Wheat Ridge community. Neighborhoods participating in this unique certification program receive guidance and support from city staff to organize workshops, projects and events that enhance the livability of their neighborhoods and reduce residents' ecological footprints. Participating neighborhoods earn program credits and recognition from the community and the City. To learn more about the program, visit: https://www.sustainableneighborhoodnetwork.org/wheatridge.

Park It Wheat Ridge!

Did you know Wheat Ridge is home to more than 20 beautiful parks? The Mayor is challenging everyone to get out and visit each and every one of them in 2021. Every park is unique and there is the added benefit of being outside in the fresh air enjoying nature while remaining close to home. There is also a prize drawing park visitors can enter online now until Jan. 31, 2021. The more entries, the more chances to win. Each visit to a park can be entered for the prize drawing. Complete prize entries at Rootedinfun.com and remember to include a fun picture enjoying a park.

Wheat Ridge Creates is Looking for Creatives!

In 2019 the City of Wheat Ridge created a core group of community, business and city staff members to help Artspace (an arts-related nonprofit) produce a feasibility study in order to determine the appetite for "art spaces" in Wheat Ridge. We found that there is a large underground arts community in the city with a lot of great ideas for expanding the art scene. Since that time, this core group has rebranded as Wheat Ridge Creates, and we would like to bring the creatives that live in and around Wheat Ridge together in a meaningful way.

We are interested in finding out in what ways you would like to connect with each other.  We would also like to begin to identify what the needs of Wheat Ridge Creatives are and begin to address these.

The survey takes about 3 minutes and will be open until March 1, 2021. If you have any questions, comments, ideas or suggestions please contact Marianne Schilling.
