"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with the wisdom that experience can instill in us." –Hal Borland

Happy 2019! At Localworks, we have begun this new year by reflecting on 2018 and setting our priorities and goals for the next twelve months. Our board has welcomed several new members who add fresh perspective and energy to our work, and the staff have many exciting opportunities planned for you to connect with your community, the first of which are detailed in this edition of our e-newsletter. We also look to you, our members, partners and supporters, for new ideas and insights—because as we like to say, Localworks is powered by people working for positive progress in Wheat Ridge.

With gratitude,

Krista Lewis, Executive Director

Volunteer Happy Hour

At Localworks, we love our volunteers! We have hundreds of individuals that donate their time to us each year. From serving on our Board of Directors to working at our events, our volunteers offer their support in a number of different ways. Whether you've volunteered with us in the past or are interested in volunteering with us in the future, please join us at our winter happy hour. We'll have some snacks and great door prizes. Your first drink is on us!

Live Local: Paint & Sip

Join us for a fun evening at Four Squares Framing. This event is a chance to get to know some neighbors and let your artistic side shine. In honor of Valentine's Day, we'll be painting a piece entitled "Colorado Love."

The cost of the class is $5 per person. We'll offer two classes. The first will take place from 2 to 4pm and the second from 6 to 8pm. Purchase your ticket(s) here.

This event is part of Localworks' Live Local Program -- a series of social and active events to help residents live locally, support local businesses, get to know each other and encourage a more enriching and healthy lifestyle.

Random Acts of Kindness Week

Random Acts of Kindness Day is February 17, but Localworks decided that one day wasn't enough. That's why we're launching Wheat Ridge Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 11-17). Visit our Facebook group to see what kind acts your neighbors are doing and post about your own random acts of kindness.

WRBD Façade Plus Program

The Wheat Ridge Business District is looking for commercial property owners and businesses willing to invest in their properties. The Wheat Ridge Business District has existing grant programs that match improvements in specific categories up to certain limits, and their Façade Plus Program is an effort to consider larger in scope projects that include substantial changes to the façade. The deadline to apply is March 5. Learn more here.
